Dominique Abbott, a senior at JW North High in California, placed second in her 800-meter qualifying heat in 2:10.77 at the CIF State Championships at Buchanan High's Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis. Abbott was one of two JW North athletes to reach the state final, along with reigning 800 champion Mackenzie Browne in 2:12.72, in addition to being among four competitors to achieve a sub-2:11 performance. Abbott also contributed to JW North securing a berth in the 4x400-meter relay final by placing second in its qualifying race in 3:48.93.
